It has been such a long time that we have all been waiting for this day to come. Watching the struggle this couple has been through and to see them grow even closer together as they figured out how they wanted to meet this challenge has been an amazing thing for me to see. Once they decided to adopt and started jumping through hoops and jumping hurdles, the ups and downs were very challenging.
I remember the day they said they finally had a baby and pictures, it was like Jen was actually pregnant. How exciting it was. Then when they settled on a name and we all started talking about Izzy like she was just in the other room, so close but yet so far away. We hung on the next news, the next picture, anything at all about her. As parents it's hard. Sometimes you talk, sometimes you listen, but sometimes you just grab them and hug them and hold them tight, not knowing what to say, just letting you know you love them. As this roller coaster ride went on and on, there have been so many different feelings. None so great and exciting as I had the other night when Kevin called me about something and we talked for awhile. We were just about to hang up and he said, oh by the way we are going to get Izzy next week. I told him to quit screwing around because I didn't believe him. He said yes it was true that they were getting her next week, the excitement I felt was a 10 out of 10. Finally our little girl was coming to her new home! Nothing else in the world mattered at that moment, and since that night all I think about is next Friday night at midnight waiting for Kevin and Jen and Izzy to walk off of that plane and into our lives forever. It's just as real and joyous and as much a miracle as an actual birth. For all of us it is. Izzy is a gift from God that will change all of our lives forever and for the better. I am so grateful for her presence in my life and in our family.
Kevin and Jen, I am so happy for you that your day has finally come. You will be wonderful parents. As always mom and I will be here for all of you always whenever you need us. Thank you for who you are, your desire to raise new life in you home and for giving me another beautiful granddaughter. These new babies are the light of my life. I can't wait to hold Izzy and kiss her and hug her and make her feel safe and have her learn who grandpa Kramer is and how much I love her. It is a privilige for me and I will love you guys forever for making me a grandfather again.
To all of you who read this, I am the luckiest man alive. A beautiful terrific wife who loves me unconditionally, great kids who I am so proud of with great wives who I consider my own daughters, and my grandbabies kelsey and now Izzy and my new grandbaby in July. I am a rich man!

Love You,

Dad K
